Project Runway

In Mid January daddy was working some really long hours between his full time day job at The Children's Theatre, and his almost full time job at Mounds Park Academy. So Alex and I decided to surprise him with some pizza for dinner!

However, mommy forgot to bring diapers with her, and Alex SURPRISED her with a totally stanky nasty blowout in the car that left nothing dry!

Ugh!

Well as Tim Gunn always says.....

'Make it Work'

However the nearest Mood Fabric is 1199 miles away in New York, so I had the added pressure of working with found objects instead!

I found a small piece of scrap muslin, some cheesecloth, paper napkins and two safety pins.

And keeping with my " Post-Modern, yet Abstracted take on Evening Wear" I chose to juxtapose the look by accessorizing with a matching Matchbox car .
and you thought art school was a waste

Off to the runway we went!
Otherwise known as the ramp
outside the theatre

That's him working with the 'accessory' before his big

Turn!

In most fashion shows, the model only does one trip per outfit....

Alex however went around at least thirty times....
he even added his own "music"

I would like to note that this look was fully successful in its design and execution.
If you know what I mean.

And now that I have conquered the runway, I will be submitting my application to the "Mother of the Year" committee for their approval.

Wee!

Wee Wednesdays is a fabulous program put on by the Mid Town Global Market in Minneapolis. It is a great little mall that's part ethnic food court and global street fair. They bring in FREE entertainment for the little cherubs and even offer FREE food discounts at many of the food vendors! Better yet its a great way to burn off a lot of pent up cabin fever steam, so its a pretty cool thing!

The first week we went they had a local music school come and perform some of their songs while the kids got to get up and groove...

This is called - Groove

It was a bit hard to keep his attention on the singers as he was often running away so he could run up and down all of the cool aisles of the market, but everynow and then I got him steered back onto the dance floor....

And like a true Powers-Carpenter he is more interested in the 'BackStage' happenings...

Loot!

Christmas rocked for Alex this year!

Well.... he didn't actually know what this whole Christmas thing was all about. Or why we put up trees inside our house covered with cool toys, or why he couldn't play with the toys on the tree.

All he knew was Gamma Q came to town and then he got lots of toys!

Here he is with his very own Batmobile!
no more stealing dads

And here is daddy reading him a Curious George book

To help with the wintery cold days when we are stuck inside,
Gamma Q got him a Tent!

With a tunnel!

MMMMM....
Coooookie....

MMMMM....
Bus.....

And the big Santa Gift this year was his first....

TOOL BENCH!

Complete with a Screw gun and gears to spin and bolts to be bolted and plastic things to hit mom over the head with ! Fun Fun!

Look its a Mini-Chris!

Cold Day!

Living in Minnesota it was bound to happen...

FREEZING BUTT COLD DAY!

Or in our case a week of freezing butt cold just before the Christmas holiday.

Since it was way to cold to go out side and run off some energy,
Wanting to relieve some of Alex's cabin fever, I brought his outdoor slide,

Indoors!

How cool is it to have a slide in your own room!

Even cooler is learning a new way to go down!

Wheeeeeee!!!!!

But even that gets boring...

Until you add some cars!
